Jatropha Agronomy

Jatropha Agriculture is the foundation of any Jatropha product or by-product and is the largest employment generator along the Jatropha value chain. Jatropha is a long-term cash crop that will continue to add value to a farm by providing direct income and indirectly by increasing the fertility and value of farm land where it is planted. Agricultural production systems need to be studied and refined for Haiti, but between 1,600 (3mx3m) and 2,000 (1.5mx1.5m) Jatropha trees per hectare. This tree density will create approximately 1 job for every 2 hectares or 250 jobs per 500 hectares of Jatropha farm. 500 Hectares of Jatropha production will produce enough Jatropha fruit to support one Jatropha Processing Center (JPC)
