are where most of the value is added to the final product whether or not it is Jatropha SVO or bio-diesel by taking raw food and converting them into a liquid fuel. JPCs also take by-products and process them into profitable goods to be sold in Haiti. It requires approximately 500 hectares of Jatropha production to adequately supply a JPC with raw material.
is the third step in the Jatropha value chain which takes raw Jatropha SVO and processes it into a thinner fuel called bio-diesel. Bio-diesel is a direct substitute for petroleum diesel fuel and can be used directly in any diesel or fuel oil engine. The trade off is that bio-diesel is more expensive to produce and requires a large amount of capital investment to begin operations. It requires about 1,000 hectares of Jatropha production and two JPC’s to profitably supply a bio-fuel refinery with raw material.
